I Buy Books and Never Read Them
May 16th 2009 15:14
I buy books and never read them. Last year, I bought three bags of books at the library's annual book sale. I haven't read one of them yet.
I do read books. But, it takes me two or three weeks to finish a book these days. I read books to my daughter-lots of books. But, I don't count those as MY books...the juicy ones I want to be reading.
I recently bought a few stacks of gothic romance novels on eBay. I would like nothing more than to stretch out in the front yard under a tree and read them. All day. Not even stopping for lunch. Like I did when I was little.
But, who will feed the pets, clean the house, run to the store, do the laundry?
Yet, I buy more books in hopes that one day I will find more time to read. For now, I try to be satisfied with the meager thirty minutes a day I read. In the bathtub at night. Before I go to bed.
