My friend, Trish, has fallen in love with a man from Australia. She met him at the laundromat. He is here in America visiting a friend.
I've only met the man once, but here is what I've learned about him:
1. He's married, though "in the process of divorce". (I pointed out to my friend that he still wears his wedding ring).
2. He's been to prison. In Australia.
3. He's unemployed back home. The recession "hasn't just hit America", he says.
4. The "friend" that he is visiting here in America is female.
I asked my friend why she fell in love with this man. He really isn't her type. She is normally quite sensible.
My friend replied, "because he has a cute accent. I just love to hear him talk!".
I explained to my friend that men with Australian accents are a dime a dozen in Australia. There is nothing remarkable about HIM.
My friend doesn't care. She has fallen hook, line and sinker.
Why would you fall in love with someone just because they "sound cute"?

That said, I don't think the broad spectrum of American accents are any better... we both just sound lame!
